In the Kitchen you will find a propane gas powered refrigerator, stove and oven with plenty of glasses, plates, dishes, flatware, knives, pots and pans. There is also a base for dispensing 5 gallon jugs of purified drinking water. Water purification drops are needed for washing fruits and vegetables and for rinsing dishes. You will need to bring food supplies, even though a grocery truck brings fresh foods up the road and to our door 3-5 times a week. There are nearby restaurants if you want to eat out and several small grocery stores in the town of Xcalak.

Water is supplied from a rain collection system which stores water in a large in-ground cistern. Water is then pumped to the rooftop holding tank where gravity takes over. This system supplies both hot and cold running water. There is a propane water heater if needed.

Electricity is provided by a solar powered 24 volt battery charging system run through a 2400-watt inverter to create the same 110a/c that is standard in the U.S. There is adequate power to run the lights, ceiling fans and stereo. Note that appliances which generate heat require a large amount of energy. These include hair dryers, clothes irons, electric coffee pots and toasters- all of which are prohibited, as they will damage and close down the power supply.
